ABOUT HYSTERIA
A collection of things, ideas, people, art, obsessions, projects and beautiful bad decisions — arranged as a place you can walk through.
HYSTERIA started as a shop and refused to stay one.
The objects are still here — clothing with a history, beauty products bought in unreasonable quantities, home things that stare back, pieces made by hand and objects found on a curb at an hour I will not disclose. Most are one of one. Nothing gets restocked, because nothing was stocked in the first place.
But a shop only explains the transaction, not the taste behind it. So the rest of the mind opened up: a journal for the arguments and the process notes, a wall for everyone else's rooms and outfits and questionable carts, an exchange for the good things other people are selling elsewhere, a workshop of things being built or ruined in public, and after dark for the material that only makes sense past midnight.
The design is loud on purpose. Zine photocopies, ransom-note headlines, old desktop windows, handwriting, tape, receipts, lime green and deep purple against a lot of black. Underneath it, the intent is straightforward: things worth owning, writing worth finishing, people worth reading, and a standard of taste that does not apologise.
Chaos is one layer of the personality. It is not the whole personality. If it were, none of this would be worth building.
- — Everything here was chosen, not sourced.
- — Commerce is a room, not the building.
- — The Exchange is curated; we never handle the sale.
- — Community submissions are read by an actual person.
- — Nothing is ironic just to be ironic.
